Nigerian Army links Boko Haram’s ‘doctored’ video to IPOB

- The Nigerian Army says a trending video of the alleged killing of security agents by Boko Haram was fabricated by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)

- The Army says this is confirmed as one Simon Ekpa is the principal actor in the clip

- Spokesperson of the Army, Col Sagir Musa, asked Nigerians to ignore the video

The video allegedly released recently by the Boko Haram group is doctored and never emanated from the terrorist organisation. It was fabricated by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the Nigerian Army has disclosed.

The video had shown the alleged capture and killing of some security operatives in the northeastern part of Nigeria by the insurgents.

However, the acting director, Army Public Relations, Col Sagir Musa, said in a statement that the video did not happen in Nigeria as claimed.

While asking citizens to disregard the video, he added that it was concocted by IPOB to create tension and cause fragmentation of the country.

The statement accused one Simon Ekpa, of being the principal actor in the clip, calling on soldiers of southeast extraction presently serving in the northeast to desert the Army and return to Biafra.

“Also, the call on south easterners not to join the Nigerian Army is an obvious indication of the essence and objective of the masterminds of this fake video which should be discountenanced by the public," Col Musa said.

He also promised that the Nigerian Army would continue with the battle to rid the country of terrorists.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Nigerian Army recently debunked claims that a man named Emmanuel Ezugwu, a professor, invented a Mine Resistance Anti-Ambush Protected Vehicle (MRAP) for the security organisation.

The Army said that reports that Prof Emmanuel manufactured the MRAP is gross misrepresentation and wrong assertion of the records on ground.
