It is a lie, I did not support Sowore's re-arrest - Festus Keyamo

- Festus Keyamo has denied supporting Sowore's re-arrest by the DSS

- Sowore was on Friday, December 6, re-arrested while appearing at the Federal High Court, Abuja

- Keyamo, however, described the post that claimed he supported Sowore's re-arrest as fake

The minister of state for labour and employment, Festus Keyamo, has reacted to the purported claim that he supported the re-arrest of the activist-turned politician, Owoyele Sowore, by the Department of State Service (DSS).

Legit.ng reports that a tweeter user, Ucheezonye @uche_ezeonye, had claimed that Keyamo said that there was nothing bad with the re-arresting of Sowore in a courtroom, adding that offenders could be captured anywhere.

He also lambasted the human rights lawyer for the alleged support for the invasion of the court by the DSS operatives.

"There is nothing constitutionally wrong with re-arresting Sowore in courtroom, an offender can be captured anywhere. I think there is something wrong with Festus Keyamo. Even a blind man can see that Nigeria is heading to anarchy," Ezenonye quoted Keyamo to have said.

Reacting to the claim, Keyamo on Tuesday, December 10, denied supporting the re-arrest of Sowore in the courtroom, describing the news as fake. According to him, the unfortunate ones have fallen for it and as usual, there would be no apologies to him.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the House of Representatives said it would investigate the DSS over the re-arrest of Sowore at the premises of a Federal High Court in Abuja.

It was reported that the House on Tuesday, December 10, mandated its committees to investigate the circumstances surrounding the re-arrest of Sowore after the minority leader, Ndudi Elumelu, raised the matter during plenary.

A coalition of civil society organisations had also given President Muhammadu Buhari 14 days ultimatum to release Sowore and all prisoners of conscience.
