The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, on Friday, December 6, said that his party would retain Edo state in the 2020 governorship elections.
Oshiomhole made the comment while speaking to State House correspondents shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari met behind closed doors with the APC state chairmen at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The ruling party's chairman said that some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) forces that could have served as stumbling blocks in the state had joined their ancestors.
He said Edo has accepted APC as its preferred party, noting that the crisis in the state will be resolved peacefully.
On the purpose of the visit, Oshomhole said the 36 state chairmen of the party and the FCT were at the State House to congratulate President Buhari on his victory at the Appeal Court.
President Buhari had on Thursday, December 5 held a closed-door meeting with governors of APC states at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), and the chief of staff to the president, Mallam Abba Kyari, were also at the meeting with the president and governors.
