- The APC says Governor Seriake Dickson is the main cause of the resounding defeat that the PDP suffered in the Bayelsa governorship election
- The spokesperson for the party, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, insists that Dickson should blame himself for the loss of the PDP in the poll
- Issa-Onilu tells the Bayelsa state governor to account for his stewardship and how he allowed his ego to cost him and PDP the governorship election
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has thanked the outgoing governor of Bayelsa state, Seriake Dickson, for making it possible for its candidate, David Lyon, to win the November 16 governorship election in the state.
The party in a statement on Tuesday, December 3, through its national publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said Dickson was the main reason for the resounding defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) suffered in the Bayelsa election.
The APC said rather than blame others the governor should blame himself and his governorship candidate who he tried unsuccessfully to foist on the state for the loss of the PDP in the poll.
The party asked Dickson to account for his stewardship and how he allowed his ego to cost him and PDP the governorship election in Bayelsa.
The party said throughout his eight-year tenure, the governor ran a directionless government by squandering the state resources with no traceable positive impact on Bayelsa state.
It asked Dickson to explain how he singlehandedly chased away other PDP leaders rather than sounding ridiculous in an attempt to look for others to blame.
“APC did not need to intimidate the voters or arm-twist the agencies involved in the electoral process in Bayelsa State. Besides the fact that it is not our way, we actually had an easy victory in Bayelsa. Thanks to Governor Dickson himself for making victory easy for us,” the party said.
"Dickson failed woefully on all fronts. He failed the people the Bayelsa who are daily faced with the reality of underdevelopment. There are no roads, no schools, no hospitals, and no visible improvement on their social life.
Meanwhile, barely three weeks after the conduct of governorship election in Bayelsa state, Governor Seriake Dickson, on Monday, November 2, said there was no poll conducted in the state on November 16.
Vanguard reports that the governor claimed that the conducted election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was an insult to Bayelsans.
Legit.ng gathered that he noted that what transpired on November 16 in the name of an election was a well-organised massacre of innocent persons by agents of the state and the writing of results and announcement of the same by INEC in favour of the ruling APC.
