Insecurity: President Buhari hails Nigerian Army

- President Muhammadu Buhari has rated Nigerian Army high on its efforts in tackling insecurity in the country

- President Buhari said that the federal government will do more to see to the welfare of the military

- The president also assured soldiers that his administration will not relent in working with the military in securing the lives of Nigerians all over the nation

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, December 3, hailed the Nigerian Army on its efforts to deal with insecurity in the country.

The president said this during the chief of Nigerian Army staff conference in Kaduna state, Channels TV reports.

President Buhari said that his administration will do its most to work with the military in both tackling insecurity and protecting the lives and properties of citizens of the country.

He admitted that the Nigerian Army has challenges in the areas of training, manpower, infrastructure and healthcare for soldiers.

The president said: “I am highly impressed with the conduct of operations that continue to flush out the terrorists from their enclaves. I ask you to sustain these great efforts.

“Let me again reiterate our government’s resolve to do everything within its constitutional power to ensure the security and safety of law-abiding citizens."

The president particularly praised Tukur Buhari, the chief of Army staff, for keying into the federal government's change agenda and for the innovations and positive changes he has brought into the force.

He said: “I particularly commend his thrust in the critical areas such as the innovative and inventive approach to produce military hardware, infrastructural development, restructuring and reorganisation, among others, with significant results."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Nigerian Army had approved the promotion of senior officers to the ranks of major general and brigadier general respectively.

The Nigerian Army in a statement issued on Sunday, November 10, said the promotions were approved by the Nigerian Army Council on Saturday the November 9.
