Anthony Joshua has been in destructive form, knocking down his opponents in soft sparring fights ahead of his much-anticipated bout with Andy Ruiz, his trainer Timothy Moten claims.

The former heavyweight champion will have a golden chance to prove Andy Ruiz's victory over him in June was a fluke when he faces the Mexican on December 7 in Saudi Arabia.

The 30-year-old Nigerian-born pugilist was handed his first career defeat by Ruiz at Madison Park in New York on June 29, thus losing his heavyweight belts.

With attention focused on the rematch showdown which has been adjudged Joshua's greatest test of boxing championship, one of his sparring opponents, Moten, said the heavyweight star has blown out many opponents in build-up to the fight.

"There have been guys here, I don't want to say any names, but I've seen guys come into camp, get blown away and get sent home that same week," Moten said.

"He's dropped a few of his sparring partners and he's rocked a lot. Joshua is by far the hardest hitter I've been in the ring with."

Motein also commended Joshua's mental strength towards the fight, adding that during his 60 intense rounds with Joshua, the pugilist showed his beast side.

"Almost every session I ask him how he's doing, what he thinking. He says to me, 'Ready, ready'. Mentally he is in a good place. I can see that in his eyes. He's got a focus I've not seen,'' the 27-year-old said.

"He's got that warrior's spirit. His mentality is to destroy. He is like a focused, caged lion and when the time is right, he will unleash."
