Nigerians have called on the Senate to reject President Muhammadu Buhari's loan request before the upper chamber.
This was disclosed in a poll by Legit.ng on social media.
In the poll, 83% of Nigerians on Facebook called for the request while 17% urged the Senate to allow the government take the money.
In a similar fashion, 43% of Nigerians on Twitter asked the upper chamber to reject the request while 19% urged the Senate to grant the request made by the federal government.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) berated the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Yoruba Council of Elder (YCE) and a Middle Belt group over their comments on President Buhari's plan to present a fresh request of $29.96 billion loan to the National Assembly.
Nigerian Tribune reports that pan-Yoruba sociopolitical group, Afenifere, said the fresh attempt by Buhari to represent $30 billion loan request for approval of the National Assembly was a final attempt to make Nigeria go bankrupt.
Legit.ng gathered that Afenifere stated its opposition on Saturday, November 30, through its spokesperson, Yinka Odumakin, in a telephone chat with the newspaper.
It described the spate of loan taking as unprecedented “without anything on ground to show for all the money they are borrowing. Who will repay these loans? The most unfortunate thing is that you cannot see anything on ground to show for all these monies they are borrowing, nothing to show. It’s most unfortunate.”
