Cristiano Ronaldo scooped the Serie A Player of the Year award same night Lionel Messi won the prestigious Ballon D'Or.
The Juventus striker was absent at the Ballon D'Or ceremony which was held in Paris because he needed to attend another event in Milan.
Messi won his sixth award as he edged Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk despite winning the Champions League and Ronaldo came third.

It was the first time Messi won the award since 2015 after losing out to Ronaldo twice and Luka Modric in 2018 where he came fifth.
Hours to the ceremony, the results of the Ballon D'Or leaked and Messi was the overwhelming favourite, according to bookmakers.
