The Enugu East senatorial candidate of the APC in the last election, Lawrence Ezeh, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party Party (PDP) along with about 20,000 supporters.
The Nation reports that Ezeh, popularly known as Prince of Mburubu, and his followers were on Sunday, December 1, received at an impressive reception by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state.
The senatorial candidate who was once a member of the PDP said the governor influenced his decision him to return to the party.
“Before the elections, we were together; after the elections, we were also together, because you never allowed me to rest until I agreed to return to the PDP,” Ezeh said.
Governor Ugwuanyistated that the PDP was pleased to have Ezeh return to its fold
“Enugu State PDP is one united family. You left and you are now back. We welcome you back and say that we are happy, because you are very important to us,” the governor told Prince Ezeh.
Ezeh defected from the PDP to the APC when after he failed to secure the PDP ticket to contest Enugu East senatorial seat.
He was defeated by a former governor of the state, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, who won the election held on February 23, 2019.
Meanwhile, the winner of the Kogi West senatorial district election, Smart Adeyemi, on Sunday, December 1, spoke about his victory over Dino Melaye, who occupied the position before the poll rerun.
Adeyemi likened Melaye to a boy who misused his opportunity of success through exuberance.
Speaking with journalists after he was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), illustrated Melaye's defeat with the story of a servant who stole his master's garment which happened to be too big for him making him to misbehave.
