Kogi West senatorial rerun: Oshiomhole congratulates Smart Adeyemi

The victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s senatorial candidate in the Kogi West rerun election, Smart Adeyemi, has no doubt endeared him more to his party members both at state and national levels.

After Adeyemi was declared winner of the recently-concluded poll, he was congratulated by the national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, in the night of Saturday, November 30, The Nation reports.

Oshiomhole said that the victory of the APC in Kogi proves that the people of the state can be trusted to choose leaders that are capable of taking them to new heights in the Senate.

He also said that Adeyemi's victory means that the APC has general acceptance in the state particular and in Nigeria generally.

The ruling party's boss also said that with the development, the APC is swiftly getting rid of persons who have tried to shipwreck democracy in the country.

He said: ”As it stands today, the broom has swept away the entire 16 Senators, Dino being the last, who tried to destabilise our democracy for their personal interest, jettisoning the interest of the electorate."

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Melaye had finally reacted over the defeat he suffered on Saturday, November 30, during the supplementary election in his constituency.

Legit.ng gathered that Melaye was defeated by Adeyemi. The returning officer of the election, Professor Olajide Lawal, announced this at the collation centre in the state on Saturday, November 30.
