Kogi rerun: Keyamo reacts to Adeyemi's victory, says Buhari finally retires Melaye, others

- Minister of state for labour and employment, Festus Keyamo, has reacted to the victory recorded by APC in Kogi West senatorial rerun

- Smart Adeyemi of APC defeated the candidate of PDP, Dino Melaye, on Saturday, November 30

- Keyamo, however, said that those who planned coup against Buhari's reelection have been finally retired

Festus Keyamo, the minister of state for labour and employment, has congratulated senator-elect, Smart Adeyemi, for emerging winner of Kogi West senatorial rerun election.

Legit.ng reports that Adeyemi defeated his main challenger and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the Saturday, November 30, rerun held in the senatorial district.

Speaking on the Adeyemi's outstanding performance against Dino Melaye, Keyamo, who took to his twitter page on Sunday, December 1, said the victory proved those that thought Buhari would fail in 2019, wrong.

He said: "Congratulations to my friend and brother, Senator Smart Adeyemi. And commiserations to my friend and brother, Senator Dino Melaye."

The activist lawyer, however, commiserated with Dino Melaye over his loss at the poll.

He said God Almighty has just shown that Buhari became president in 2015 because He alone decreed it.

"God Almighty has just shown us that PMB became president in 2015 because He alone decreed it. Those who felt they made him president in 2015 and planned to ‘unmake’ him in 2019 have all lost power one by one yet PMB is still standing strong and will finish his 2nd term by His grace," he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that former senator Dino Melaye finally lost his bid for re-election into the Senate from Kogi West on the platform of the PDP.

It was reported that Melaye lost to Adeyemi of the APC in Saturday’s November 30 senatorial election.

The returning officer of the election, Professor Olajide Lawal, announced this at the collation centre in the state.

He said Adeyemi polled a total of 88,373 votes to beat Melaye who scored 62,133 votes.
