- The NYSC's DG, Shuaibu Ibrahim, warned the corps members against travelling in the night
Brig-Gen, Shuaibu Ibrahim, the director-general, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has warned corps members against unauthorised and late night journeys.
Daily Trust reports that he gave the warning on the evening of Friday, November 30, in Benin when he visited eight corps members who were involved in an accident and are receiving treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
Legit.ng gathered that the corps members were on their way to Port Harcourt from the orientation camp in Ekiti state when they had an auto crash on the Benin bypass on the night of Friday, November 30.
“I have always warned against late night travels. Please, corps members, break your journeys if it is late,” he said.
While commending the management of UBTH for taking care of the corps members, he assured that the corps was working with security agencies to ensure safety of corps members across the country.
He assured families of the corps members that they would not be abandoned.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that NYSC said two corps members were convicted for parading fake certificates.
It was reported that the fake corps members were arrested at the Taraba state orientation camp.
Ibrahim said the fake graduates were sentenced to three years in jail for presenting fake certificates.
The convicts were, however, given an option of fine which is pegged at N10,000.
Ibrahim called for an establishment of a special committee to fight the menace of fake certificates being used for the national scheme.
