The senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kogi West election, Smart Adeyemi, scored higher votes than his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s counterpart, Dino Melaye.
The Cable reports that the collated results in the seven local governments in the Kogi West supplementary election on Saturday, November 30, showed that Adeyemi has 8,265 votes while Melaye has 2,585 votes.
Legit.ng, however, notes that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not officially declared a winner in the keenly contested election.
Earlier, Senator Melaye alleged that results of the Kogi West's senatorial rerun were manipulated.
Melaye took to Twitter to raise allegations of malpractices while the collation of the results was ongoing.
"I am very proud of the electorates in Kogi West. You voted me today but prepared results already in place. We will fight to the end. illegality shall never stand. Magic results everywhere," he tweeted.
He had also vowed to head to court if INEC validates the previous results recorded in the Kogi West senatorial rerun election.
Melaye who was speaking to journalists after casting his vote, said he stands by his earlier demand that INEC cancels election results in places he alleged were marred by violence in the November 16 elections.
