Senator Dino Melaye alleges that results are being manipulated as the Kogi West's senatorial rerun being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is underway.
Melaye, the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is battling to retain his seat at the Senate after he was sacked by the Court of Appeal following the petition filed by his rival, Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The first ballot of the election was conducted on Saturday, November 16, but INEC declared the election inconclusive due to the lead margin between the two leading candidates.
However, as the supplementary election which the electoral body fixed for Saturday, November 30, continues, Melaye took to Twitter to raise allegations of malpractices.
"I am very proud of the electorates in Kogi West. You voted me today but prepared results already in place. We will fight to the end. illegality shall never stand. Magic results everywhere.- SDM." he tweeted.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Melaye vowed to head to court if INEC validates the previous results recorded in the Kogi West senatorial rerun election.
Melaye who was speaking to journalists after casting his vote, said he stands by his earlier demand that INEC cancels election results in places he alleged were marred by violence in the November 16 elections.
His words: “We do not hope that the disaster that happened on the 16th of November won't repeat itself again.”
On his position regarding the proposed cancellation, Melaye said: “Every sane person will hold that position, because what we have as a result is a fraud.
“What we have is that places where INEC themselves cancelled, voting will not reflect the supplementary election and for me, that is a major fraud.”
