The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, has showered praises on Nigeria’s vice president, Yemi Osinbajo for his leadership style.
The Sultan who is the president-general of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) praised the number two citizen on Friday, November 29, at the opening ceremony of the council’s general assembly, Vanguard reports.
Legit.ng gathers that Osinbajo, a professor of law and pastor, was presented at the Islamic event and presented the keynote lecture.
Further praising Osinbajo, the influential Sokoto monarch said his leadership style is divine.
“We have the privilege of having the Vice President here who is a pastor, and I am pleased that he is here to listen to the comments we will make and to listen to him giving the keynote speech, which I believe he will say a lot having known him for some time.
“He has leadership given to him by the Lord God Almighty, it is a trust and responsibility and he is here in his capacity as VP and we invited him to give the keynote speech as VP of Nigeria and he accepted to be here,” the Sultan of Sokoto said.
Other principal members of the NSCIA such as Ishaq Oloyede, the secretary-general of the council, and Prof Salisu Shehu, the deputy secretary-general, praised Osinbajo at the event.
For Oloyede who also happens to be the registrar of JAMB, Osinbajo is an illustrious personality who has done well, combining religious commitment with public administration.
The NSCIA scribe further described the vice president as the pride of the country.
Professor Shehu in his remarks commended Osinbajo for accepting the invitation to give the keynote address and taking time to personally attend the event.
He expressed hope that the vice president will take note of, and give support for, the resolutions of the council.
In his keynote address, Osinbajo also commended the group for promoting religious tolerance across the country.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that some Yoruba leaders said they would not allow anybody humiliate the vice president.
They were responding to the alleged sacking of 35 aides to the vice president which had been clarified by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the Yoruba elders, any bad thing that happens to Osinbajo politically is an affront to the Yoruba race regardless of his political affiliation.
