- Governor Ortom has dedicated his victory at the appeal court to the people of the state
- Recall that the court had earlier in the day dismissed the case brought against Ortom's victory by the APC candidate, Jime, for lacking in merit
- The governor also appreciated the leadership of PDP in the state
The appeal court in a unanimous judgement on Thursday, November 28, dismissed the appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate Emmanuel Jime against the victory of Samuel Ortom, Benue state governor.
The court dismissed the case for lacking in merit.
In reaction to this, the PDP governor commended the judgement which affirmed his re-election.
In a statement made available to Legit.ng by his chief press secretary, Terver Akase, Ortom dedicated his victory to the people of Benue. He said the judgement is a victory for the people of the state who gave him a second term mandate.
"He once more returns all the glory and praise to God Almighty for giving him the opportunity to lead the state for another term.
"Governor Ortom also deeply appreciates the leadership and members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the state, as well as other Benue people for the support given to him," the statement read.
Legit.ng had earlier reported that supporters and members of the PDP in Benue were, on Thursday, November 28, greeted with the news that the court delivered a ruling in favour of Ortom.
The judgement was delivered in Abuja with the court throwing away the appeal filed by Jime, candidate of the APC in the governorship election of March 9.
