Five labourers who sustained injuries following a building collapse have been rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
The Nation reports that the incident occurred on Monday night, November 25, at Obanikoro, Enu Owu in Lagos Island when the labourers were demolishing the building.
The newspaper stated that the victims were hired to demolish the structure said to be located at the heart of Enu Owa market.
But midway into the demolition exercise, the building reportedly collapsed on them, burying all five in the rubble.
It took the timely intervention of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) for the victims to be rescued and rushed to nearby hospitals.
The incident was confirmed by the spokesman for LASEMA Nosa Okunbor, who noted that the area had been cordoned off.
“The entire premises of the collapsed building has been cordoned off by LASEMA to forestall secondary incidents. Those in the neighbourhood have been sensitised on the need to avoid the collapsed building site
“The five victims of this ongoing operation have been moved to nearby hospitals,” he said.
Lagos state has experienced a surge in reports of building collapse in recent times.

An eye witness told Channels Television that the building which is along Glover road caved in the evening of Friday, November 1, adding that some persons became trapped beneath the rubble
In another report, a three-storey building in Ososa area of Bariga, Lagos state, reportedly collapsed on Sunday, July 28. The Nation reported that the building was said to have collapsed around 9.30pm.
Legit.ng gathered that five persons were said to have been rushed to a private hospital with no death recorded.
According to the newspaper, as at the night of Sunday, July 28, men of the Lagos state fire service were already at the scene carrying out a rescue operation.
