Police arrest 6 over murder of PDP women leader in Kogi

- The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of six suspects over the murder of Salome Abu, PDP's women leader in Kogi state

- Spokesperson of the police, William Aya, confirmed the arrest and added that the suspects are being interrogated

- The arrest of the suspects comes just as President Muhammadu Buhari ordered that those involved in the crime be fished out

Six suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder and burning of Salome Acheju-Abuh, women leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during the governorship election in Kogi state.

The announcement was made by the Kogi police command days after Abuh was killed at Ochadamu, Ofu local government area of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the spokesperson of the police, William Aya, said this in Lokoja on Monday, November 25.

According to him, the success was achieved on Friday, November 22.

The police spokesperson said the law enforcement agency had commenced interrogation of the suspects to understand the level of their involvement in the crime.

Aya said that the outcome of the investigation would be made public once the investigation id concluded.

Legit.ng earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the immediate investigation into the cause of Abuh's murder. He said the evildoers behind the act must be made to face the wrath of the law, irrespective of who they are.

“President Buhari charges all security agencies involved in the investigation to do a thorough and expeditious job on the matter so that justice could be served without fear or favour," a presidential statement said.

The incident was said to have occurred on Monday, November 18, shortly after the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the candidate of APC, Governor Yahaya Bello, had been re-elected for a second term.
