Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has congratulated former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as he clocks 73 on Monday, November 25.
Okowa described the former Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate as a man of strong convictions, saying that his drive and tenacity to lead the country would one day come to fruition.
In a statement by his chief press secretary, Governor Okowa described Abubakar as “a man strong convictions.”
He urged him at 73, to keep on doing his best for the nation's democracy.
He commended the elder statesman for his tremendous impact on the lives of people irrespective of tribe, religion, social status or political affiliation through his entrepreneurial drive and for his outstanding contributions to job creation through his many investments in the country.
“That our democracy is firmly rooted today, is because you fought anti-democratic forces that tried to undermine our democracy at some point in our democratic journey.
"Over the years you have continued to provide and offer leadership at various strata of the society and I urge you to continue to serve Nigeria well without relenting because one day your quest to lead this nation will become a reality,” the governor said.
On his part, Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom described Atiku as a patriotic Nigerian whose numerous contributions to the development of the country transcend ethnic, political and religious boundaries.
The governor said Atiku's huge investments in human capital development, as well as the former vice president's philanthropic deeds, are worthy of emulation.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari recently sent his condolences to Atiku, over the death of the PDP's presidential candidate close aide, Alhaji Umar Pariya.
President Buhari said in a statement by his spokesman, Femi Adesina: ‘‘I received the news of the death of your close aide, Alhaji Pariya, with a heavy heart. It is very touching to lose such a personal aide of many years. May Allah grant you the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
‘‘May Allah grant his family the strength to absorb the impact of this death, forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds in the hereafter.”
