A mother-daughter duo recently created history by receiving their PhD degrees together at Delhi University and graduating on the same day.
56-year-old Mala Dutta and her 28-year-old daughter Shreya Mishra were just chasing their dreams of earning a doctoral degree when it occurred to them that they could do it together and even graduate on the same day.
Dutta set out to pursue her dream of holding a PhD degree and enrolled herself for PhD (in Finance) in 2012. Her daughter followed suit two years after by enrolling for a PhD degree in Psychology at the same university. Although they had different subjects, they worked hard together and Dutta supported her daughter in studying extra hard to finish in three years.
The duo was to receive the doctorate degree last year. But the convocation was scheduled on the next day of Shreya’s wedding. So there was no chance for them to attend the convocation and receive the degrees together.
However, they both bagged a PhD, making it a rare mother-daughter moment and showing that every human being regardless of age can achieve anything they set their mind to achieve.
Meanwhile, Doris Temba is one amazing mother. The inspiring mom took to social media to share how she was raising funds for her daughter to realise her dreams.
Temba revealed her daughter is set on becoming a pilot and she needs a whopping R100 000(N2.4m) to get her next stripes.
"She is so determined - I cannot let her down. She told me yesterday - giving up is not an option," the proud mom wrote on Facebook.
