It was jubilation galore on Monday, November 25 morning, as loyalists, friends and supporters of Atiku Abubakar celebrated the former vice president of Nigeria, as he clocked 73 years on earth.
Segun Sowunmi, one of his aides, set the pace with a statement, more like a letter to Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections.
In the letter, Sowunmi extolled the virtue of the Adamawa politician, saying the latter had mastered the art of self-discipline and control.
“Yours has so far been a life worthy of celebrations. Indeed the mercies of Allah must not be despised, from the beginning through a career in the public service, to such a beautiful family made up of such beautiful children and associates so numerous that cut across the length and breadth of the globe,” Sowunmi wrote.
He called Atiku a household name in Nigeria and the world owing to God’s guidance and grace.
“I must say, sir, you are an unusual personality. I conclude that by careful management you have mastered the self and your self-control is incredible; if there be any of your numerous attributes I see, the greatest is your ability to be so calm even when most others will legitimately lose their heads,” he said calling Atiku an inspiration.
Sowunmi further expressed optimism that Atiku, who he called a ‘leaders leader’, would remain valuable to Nigeria and the world.
Legit.ng reports that Atiku's birthday is coming days after the Supreme Court finally told Nigerians why it threw out the former vice president's appeal against Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the court, Atiku and the PDP could not prove their claim that the Independent National Electoral Commission had a server and engaged in electronic transmission of results of the election.
