Aimola John: Edo politician dies shortly after defecting from PDP to APC

A politician in Edo state identified as Aimola John has slumped and died shortly after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Nation reports that Aimola, who was also a pastor, was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital where he was rushed to after he slummed.

The politician was said to have joined Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in defecting to the APC before his sudden death occurred.

In 2015, Aimola alongside Ize-Iyamu had defected from the APC to the PDP. He was reported to be returning to the APC at the residence of Ize-Iyamu where he slumped.

The late politician was a former chairmanship candidate for Owan east local government area of Edo state.

His death was confirmed by a former secretary of Owan east, Godwin Imoudu, who said Aimola was in Benin to defect to the APC before his demise.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a former secretary to the state government of Edo under the administration of Chief Lucky Igbinedion, who has been on suspension, dumped the PDP.

In his resignation letter dated Thursday, November 21, Ize-Iyamu stated that his leaving the party was influenced by consideration of happenings in the PDP, This Day reports.

He said that his decision to defect from the party did not come from any sort of ill-feeling or malice, since, according to him, he cannot point accusing fingers at a party whose friendship he once enjoyed.
