Two facilities suspected to be involved in the illegal processing of substance suspected to be petroleum resources have been reportedly discovered in Kano state.
According to Daily Trust, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Kano directorate, has sealed off the facilities.
Legit.ng gathers that the facilities are located in two communities in Gezawa local government area of the state.
The discovery was made through a joint operation by the DPR and the operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano state command.
DPR operations controller who led the operation said investigations are ongoing to find out what is being produced at the illegal refineries.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), on Friday, October 11, announced the discovery of oil in the northeastern part of the country.
The disclosure was made by the acting group general manager, group public affairs division of the corporation, Samson Makoji.
According to Makoji, the discovery of oil and gas in commercial quantity in the Gongola Basin will attract foreign investment, generate employment for people to earn income and increase government revenues.
