President Buhari finally honours airport worker who returned millions after Legit.ng report

- President Muhammadu Buhari has rewarded Josephine Ugwu with an Independent Corrupt Practices Commission Integrity Award

- Ugwu who spoke with Legit.ng in two separate interviews shared how she on five occasions returned money found at the airport while working as a cleaner

- After Legit.ng's report, Ugwu got money donated to her by Nigerians and now, has been honoured by President Buhari

History has been kind to the likes of Josephine Ugwu, who recently received a special honour and award from President Muhammadu Buhari for finding lost money at the airport on five occasions and handing it over to the authorities.

Ugwu was recognised and honoured with an ICPC Integrity Award for her unwavering honesty and integrity displayed while carrying out her job as a former cleaner at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The award was presented to her by President Buhari on November 19, at the opening of the two-day National Summit on Diminishing Corruption in Public Sector held at the State House Banquet hall in Abuja.

Incidentally, the moment was captured and also shared on President Buhari's verified Instagram page, where he stated that it was a privilege to honour Ugwu who returned millions found while on duty as a cleaner at the airport, on several occasions.

Recall that Ugwu became famous and earned the respect and empathy of Nigerians after she opened up about her work to Legit.ng.

Ugwu in 2006 was reported to be earning N12,000 monthly but found and returned over N10 million at Enugu Airport. I

Again in 2014, she found and returned N8 million at Lagos Airport, also in 2014 she found and returned another N7 million at the same airport.

In 2015, it was reported that she found and returned $12 million, an equivalent of N4.3 billion from the same airport and again in 2019 she found and returned N200,000 in Lagos airport private wing.
