WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, has backed Andy Ruiz to beat Anthony Joshua again ahead of their "fight of the desert" rematch in December.

The American-Mexican champion will be defending his heavyweight belts when he faces Joshua in an epoch-making fight to hold in Saudi Arabia.

Ruiz Jr stunned the world when he defeated Joshua through a seventh-round knockout to cart away the Briton's WBA, IBF & WBO belts in June 1, 2018, in New York.

But with less than a month to the much-anticipated rematch, 32-year-old American boxer said he is rooting for Ruiz to ''finish the job,'' Daily Star reports.

His declaration of support for the Mexican champ came days after he vowed to break Floyd Mayweather's enviable record for the longest active unbeaten streak in boxing history.

“Of course, we’re [Ruiz] with the same stable. I’m rooting for him to do, and what he set out to do the first time,'' WBC heavyweight champion said.

This is just something that he’s coming back to finish the job. For me that’s what I see.

“He’s got all the momentum going for him. It’s the way he beat Joshua. People don’t understand. It’s not only that Ruiz is a good fighter, but it was the way he beat Joshua. That’s what makes me go for him.''

Wilder also talked about a possible bout with the winner of the fight, saying boxing fans are desperately waiting to see all the belts unified.

"With Joshua, we tried many times to get that fight unfold and make a dream fight happen, you know for the fans to unify the division,” Wilder said.
