Nigeria's Super Eagles kicked off their race to qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations championship in Cameroon with a 2-1 win over Benin Republic in Uyo on Wednesday.

Although, they had to come from one goal down to beat the Squirrels 2-1 after regulation period at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Stephane Sessegnon was the first to put the ball across Daniel Akpeyi's goal-line just after five minutes of action.

However, a goal each from Victor Osimhen through the spot and a sublime finish from Samuel Kalu saw Gernot Rohr's men complete their comeback in the game.

The Eagles have now pushed their match-day one victory behind them as they hope to produce another three points in Maseru to maintain their leadership on Group L table.

Should they win their second match away from home, Nigerian would have amassed six points ahead of their third group encounter against Sierra Leone next year.

According to stats, the two sides have met just twice and the three-time African kings were dominant on both occasions.

Gernot Rohr will be hoping to take a cue from these results and maintain their winning streak over the Crocodiles.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles team doctor has confirmed that all the players are in good shape and will be ready for action when the game gets underway at 5pm Nigerian time (6pm Lesotho time).

Nigeria won bronze at the 2019 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations championship this summer and will hope they perform better in the next edition less than two years from now.

A goal each from Victor Osimhen and Samuel Kalu helped the Super Eagles upturn the early goal they conceded through Stephane Sessegnon's fifth minute strike.

Gernot Rohr's men are as a result of the win topping Group L table with three points after match day one.
