Kogi election: El-Rufai goes on his knees on behalf of Yahaya Bello

- Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna wants Kogi people to forgive Yahaya Bello ahead of the governorship election in the state

- El-Rufai notes that as a young man, Bello is capable of making mistakes that need forgiveness

- The Kaduna governor says Bello must have learnt from his mistakes and would work on them

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna caused drama at the campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi on Thursday, November 14, when he went on his knees to beg for forgiveness for Yahaya Bello, candidate of the party in the election scheduled for November 16.

Part of the grouse against Bello is his government’s alleged refusal to pay salaries of workers with some saying the administration owes up to 30 months arrears to those in the state’s civil service.

El-Rufai, who is the chairman of the APC campaign council for the election, tried to convince the people of the state that Bello loved them and had made many efforts to make their lives better.

He noted that Bello is a young man and as a result, is prone to mistakes that need forgives since the governor had learnt his lessons. He told the crowd that gathered at the venue of the rally that the APC came to Kogi state to bury the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) politically.

“People say that Governor Bello is a young man and a young man can make mistakes, and learn from them. So, I hereby beg you all to forgive Yahaya Bello; he loves Kogi, he has given the young ones better opportunity, he has empowered women.

“We must not repeat the mistakes of the past, we must not allow evil to prevail. We must not allow the memory of our great leader, the late Prince Abubakar Audu to be in vain,” El-Rufai said.
