APC governors disown call for Oshiomhole’s resignation
- APC governors have disowned the call for Oshiomhole's resignation as the national chairman of the party

- The governors, however, said that Luman was on his own sponsored errand
Despite the call by the director-general of the Progressive Governors' Forum (PGF), Saliu Lukman, for the resignation of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, the governors elected under the party, have dissociated themselves from the statement.
The Nation reports that Lukman had on Wednesday, November 13, in Abuja, asked Oshiomhole to either call the NEC meeting or vacate his seat.
Legit.ng gathered that the governors said that the statement did not emanate and could not have emanated from the PGF.
According to the newspaper, a source close to one of the governors, said: “The director general is on his own sponsored errand.”
It was also learnt that no meeting of the PGF or that of the forum’s executives has been held to deliberate on current issues that could have warranted such volatile statement credited to the director general.
Speaking on the issue, the APC national vice chairman (south-south), Hilliard Eta, dismissed Lukman’s statement, saying the director general was “speaking for himself.”
Corroborating Eta's statement, the publicity secretary of APC caretaker committee in Ogun state, Tunde Oladunjoye, stated that neither the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, nor the party at the state was part of such demand.
He said: “I am sure that our governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, was not part of such demand and could not have been part of it. Apart from the fact that the Progressive Governors Forum has not met to deliberate on such issues, there are laid down rules and procedures for calling the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party.”
Citing section 12(3) of the APC constitution, Oladunjoye said: “The composition of the NEC of the party is very clear, and I am sure no discerning governor or leader of the party will demand for convocation of NEC in the absence of the president and no wise chairman will make such a move.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Oshiomhole was advised to convene a NEC meeting to resolve some burning issues within the party ahead of the governorship elections holding on Saturday, November 16, in Bayelsa and Kogi states.
