Reports have emerged that a building near the popular Tejuosho market in the Yaba area of Lagos state has been destroyed fire.
The Nation reports that the building which was affected by the fire incident on Thursday, November 14, is located opposite the renovated market.
Vanguard reports that preliminary findings showed that the fire was caused by a power surge from one of the rooms before escalating to other parts of the building.
Femi Oke-Osantintolu, the director of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the extensive damage caused by the fire eventually led to the collapse of the building.
He, however, noted that no life was lost in the incident and that two male adults who sustained injuries have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
“Full investigation will be conducted to determine the immediate and remote cause of the incident,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.
LASEMA alongside Lagos State and Federal Fire Services were said to have later curtailed the inferno from spreading to other buildings.
There have been several fire incidents in Lagos in recent times, Legit.ng had reported that a building at the popular Balogun market in Lagos state was recently consumed by fire with a lot of properties being lost to flames.
Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and Lagos State Fire Service were deployed to quench the flames.

Nosa Okunbor, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said several shanties were gutted by that fire which has spread to adjoining buildings.
He said the Lagos state fire service, the police, and other authorities worked together to put the fire under control.
