Emmanuel Petit says Emery must be sacked and replaced with Henry or Vieira

- Emmanuel Petit wants anyone of Thierry Henry or Patrick Vieira to replace Unai Emery at Arsenal

- Arsenal manager is under pressure following the club's string of poor results

- Some fans and pundits have called for Arsenal to sack him

- However, Gunners chiefs earlier this week, gave the Spaniard a vote of confidence

Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit believes anyone between Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira has what it takes to succeed Unai Emery at the club.

The Emirates dwellers have picked just one win from their last seven matches leaving Emery under immense pressure.

Emery has overseen a torrid second term at Arsenal, with the club registering unconvincing results that has seen fans turn against the Spaniard for a clear lack of progress.

And despite the club's top brass publicly expressing their faith in the embattled tactician, Petit believes the former Paris Saint-Germain boss needs to leave.

"I believe it’s time for Unai Emery to leave Arsenal. The results are not good at all. I don’t recognize this team anymore and I don’t recognize this club anymore," he told Paddy Power.

On who should come in as Emery's replacement, the former midfielder identified Arsenal legends Vieira and Henry as potential successors.

"People may laugh at me but I wouldn’t mind seeing a former player on the bench. Is there a former Arsenal great you can call, like Thierry Henry or Patrick Vieira," the 49-year-old noted.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are currently sitting sixth on the league standings with 17 points, eight off the top four.

They will be looking to turn around their fortunes when they host struggling Southampton after the international break.
