Snow crab sells for record-breaking N16.6 million in Japan

- A snow crab has been auctioned and sold for N16.6 million in Tottori, Japan

- The bid smashes the previous Guinness world record holding snow crab sale of N6.5 million

- The winner of the bid was Tetsuji Hamashita, president of fishery wholesaler, Hanashita Shoten

It is reported that snow crabs are a highly-sought delicacy in Japan. Which is why it comes as no surprise that a whooping N16.6 million was recently splashed on the bid of the first snow crab of the season.

CNN Travel reports that Tetsuji Hamashita, president of fishery wholesaler, Hanashita Shoten purchased the coveted sea creature after winning the record-breaking bid. It was gathered that sale of the snow crab smashes the previous Guinness world record holding snow crab sale of N6.5 million.

2019's snow crab hunting season began on Wednesday, November 6 in that area of the world and so far, a major sale has occurred as auction goers believe it's auspicious to buy the first and best catch of the season.

Meanwhile, a man accidentally bought 1000 chickens online for N550. Steve Morrow claimed he only intended to buy two chicken but the advert was confusing.

Morrow, however, became the owner of 1,000 hens after he misread the ad on an auction website.

The man who manages a bed and breakfast said he only wanted to buy a couple more birds for his property.

Morrow has since found homes for all of the hens and says the experience has taught him a great lesson.
