Falana's comment on 3rd-term agenda by Buhari laughable - Group

- A group has condemned the attacks on President Buhari by human rights lawyer Femi Falana

- The group said Falana's claim that President Buhari is secretly nursing a third-term agenda is laughable

- NDF said any Nigerian who has keenly followed the leadership proclivity of President Buhari would easily concede that there are no immediate or remote antecedents linked to the president

A pro-democracy group, on Sunday, November 10, berated a human rights lawyer and senior advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, over recent attacks on the person of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The National Democratic Front (NDF) Falana's comment that President Buhari is contemplating a third-term agenda in 2023, is unfounded, baseless and senseless.

The secretary-general of NDF, Abdulakadir Bolaji, described the senior lawyer as a clout chaser who has despite Buhari’s timely rebuttal that he has no intention of tenure elongation.

Bolaji said Falana is aligning himself with the unfounded propagation of the notion that President Muhammadu Buhari is secretly plotting a third term agenda in 2023.

He said the senior lawyer has decided to defame his character and lower his self-esteem, in spite of President Buhari’s timely rebuttal that he has no intention of tenure elongation.

He added that any Nigerian who has keenly followed the leadership proclivity of President Buhari would easily concede that there are no immediate or remote antecedents linked to the president.

He also said that the "so-called actions" cited by Falana are laughable and ridicules his entire personality.

Bolaji said: "Mr. Falana should know better than anyone else that the Presidency has not nullified its free trade agreement with neighbouring African countries."

"It only took measures deemed expedient to stem smuggling, which cheats the local producer in Nigeria and the deprive the country of vital national revenues. For a Lawyer of Falana’s standing to openly and boldly side with smugglers against national interests suggests that he is a covert beneficiary of the activities of the smuggling cartel," Bolaji said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Falana had said that President Buhari was secretly nursing a third-term agenda for 2023 election.

The human rights lawyer urged Nigerians to disregard the denial by the president on the matter.
