Pope Francis told me Jesus Christ never resurrected physically - Top Italian journalist

- Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic church has allegedly said that Jesus Christ never resurrected in the body

- This was revealed by a top Italian journalist, Eugenio Scalfari who said that the Pope gave this view in a recent interview he conducted for him

- The cleric, according to Scalfari's quotation of him, said that what actually happened was that Christ went back to heaven in the semblance of a spirit

A famous Italian journalist, Eugenio Scalfari, has claimed that Pope Francis once told him that Jesus Christ died but did not resurrect bodily.

Scalfari, who revealed this in his new book, The One God and Modern Society, said that the Pope told him this in an interview he conducted for the cleric, cnsnews.com reports.

Quoting the Catholic church's cleric, the journalist said: “He was a man until he was placed in the tomb by the women who recomposed his body.

"That night, in the tomb, the man disappeared and from that cave he came out in the semblance of a spirit that met the women and the Apostles while still preserving the shadow of the person, and then he definitively disappeared.”

The alleged view of the Pope which is that Christ resurrected only in the semblance of a spirit will definitely spark a lot of controversy in Christendom as even the Bible holds a contrary view to the cleric's recent remark.

However, the Catholic News Agency (CNA) has said that what Scalfari gave as the Pope's position was actually not a faithful account of the cleric's statement.

The agency said that the journalist gave a rather free and personal interpretation of the Pope's view on Christ's divinity.

The news agency said: “...the words that Dr. Eugenio Scalfari attributes in quotation marks to the Holy Father during talks with him cannot be considered a faithful account of what was actually said but represent a personal and free interpretation of what he heard...”
