Mamman Daura is a name 'synonymous' to the Buhari administration. Though a friend and nephew of the president, the octogenarian is a man who many Nigerians know little of.

He has only one son

Like his friend and nephew, Buhari, Daura has only one son and many daughters.

Surprisingly, Daura has only one wife. This is unlike the dominant practice of marrying many wives as practiced in the north.

He is married to one wife, Ummu Kulthum. They have five daughters, one son and 14 grandchildren.

He is an affectionate father and husband

According to his daughter, Daura is an affectionate father and husband. She described her father as a romantic man and that Daura's relationship with her mother is an enviable one.

According to Fatima, Daura went from having so much to having very little or a times even nothing at all .

A journalist and Education

Daura is a former editor of New Nigerian. He had his basic education at the Katsina Middle School and secondary education at the government College, Okene, Kogi state.

He was sent to the United Kingdom for higher education by the then northern regional government in the late 1950s.

He was sent as part of a small of some brilliant young northern men chosen by Ahmadu Bello.

He studied English Language, English Literature, Latin and British constitution at advanced level at Bournemouth College.

He received a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Politics and a combined masters degree in Public and Business Administration Trinity College, Dublin.
