- Micah Richards has explained that Lionel Messi is tougher to face than Ronaldo
- The Englishman said he has kept Cristiano Ronaldo quiet many times on the pitch
- But Barcelona star Lionel Messi was a Kilimanjaro for him to climb many times
Former Manchester City star Micah Richards has stated clearly that Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is tougher to face than his greatest rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
These two superstars are arguably the best in the world for the last 10 years considering their achievements in the round leather game.
Messi and Ronaldo have both won all major trophies in the world including five Ballon d'Or each, and the only title these two players have not lifted is the FIFA World Cup.
Many players have faced Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in which some of them have shared their thoughts on these two stars.
Some are of the opinions that the Barcelona star is better than the Portuguese, why others are of the second option.
31-year-old Micah Richards faced Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo during his active playing time and he has shared his thoughts.
When Richards was asked who between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo was his toughest opponent, he said: ''I have to say Lionel Messi.
"Just because I've played against Ronaldo and I kept him quiet on a couple of occasions.
"I wouldn't say it was easy. We went to Old Trafford and I played well against him whereas I couldn't get anywhere near Messi. He was different gravy.
"He drops into pockets of space that you don't want to be in. You think you've got him and then he just turns so quick,'' Richards told SPORTbible.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Lionel Messi made a striking confession after revealing he does not want a life contract at Camp Nou despite his desire to remain at Barcelona.
The 32-year-old's future at the club remains uncertain when club President Josep Bartomeu revealed that their captain has a clause in his contract which enables him to leave at the end of the season.
