Jack Dorsey: Twitter CEO visits Nigeria
Jack Dorsey, the chief executive officer (CEO) of microblogging and social networking service known as Twitter has arrived in Nigeria.
Legit.ng reports that the tech entrepreneur who announced his arrival in a twit on Thursday evening, November 7, said he was grateful to be in the country.
“Grateful to finally be in Nigeria,’ he twitted.
The entrepreneur also had dinner with some Nigerians who he described as new friends.
Dorsey’s twit was greeted with a warm welcome from several Nigerians on the microblogging site who wished they could meet him in person.
Many twitter users were excited that Dorsey visited the country and shared some hilarious messages as seen below:

Dorsey's visit to Nigerians marks the second time a popular tech entrepreneur will be visiting The country. Back in 2016, the founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg paid a similar visit to Nigeria.
During his visit, Zuckerberg met some Nigerian Entertainment entrepreneurs and also held discussions with President Muhammmadu Buhari.
Meanwhile, the visit of the Twitter CEO is coming at a time when the Nigerian Senate reintroduced bill to regulate the use of the platform in the country. The federal government is planning on regulating social media.
Premium Times reports that the bill, protection from internet falsehood and manipulations bill, 2019, sponsored by Mohammed Sani Musa, was one of the 11 bills read for the first time at the red chamber.
In another report, the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, has disclosed that the federal government has begun the process of regulating social media in order to prevent it from causing conflict in the country.
Mohammed told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview on Tuesday, November 5, that social media could destabilise the nation if it is not sanitised.
The minister said there are more people who believe that social media poses an imminent danger to the unity of Nigeria especially through the spread of fake news and hate speeches.
