APC state chairmen dismiss call for Godswill Akpabio’s sack

The forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) state chairmen have described as misleading a report calling for the sack of the minister of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA), Godswill Akpabio.

The forum in a statement by its chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, and secretary, Ben Nwoye, dissociated itself from the report, The Nation reports.

It described the statement calling for Akpabio’s sack as a targeted attack on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and an attempt to mislead Nigerians wrongly using the name of the forum.

The group said it was in support of all the steps taken by the Buhari administration to re-position the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Meanwhile, the minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, has confirmed being under attack from those who feel uncomfortable with President Muhammadu Buhari's decision to probe the NDDC.

Akpabio said those attacking him are the set of people who do not want the forensic audit of the commission, but that he would not bulge concerning the directive of Buhari to clean the NDDC of corruption.

The minister assured that the president would touch the lives of the Niger Deltans and bring the needed development to the region.
