There is confusion in Kebbi as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has rejected the list of its own newly-elected council chairmen.

Daily Trust reports that the list was declared by the state’s Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) on Saturday, October 26.

The report quoted the spokesperson of the party in the state, Alhaji Sani Dododo, as saying the APC has made up its mind to reject the list adopted by the electoral commission.

According to Dododo, the APC was shocked to see the list released of the elected chairmen without the names of their deputies.

The spokesperson described the action of the electoral commission as unconstitutional adding that some names were even substituted by KESIEC.

Meanwhile, Umar Na’amore, one of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates for Argungu local government, has written a petition to the Kebbi polytechnic to complain about the conduct of one of the lecturers used as returning officer in the election.

According to Na’amore, Shehu Ladan of the statistics department of the institution allegedly announced the result of the election while the exercise was ongoing.

The candidate, in the petition made available to Legit.ng, accused Laden of announcing the result of the election at exactly 12.45, in favour of the APC.

“This did not go well with me as one of the contestants, the entire people of Argungu local government area who abandoned their precious time and energy to come out to exercise their franchise,” he said in the petition alleging that the mandate of the voters was stolen.
