Lionel Messi has surprisingly missed out on the FIFA's all-time highest rated XI series despite accruing overall 94 rating in the latest FIFA 20 rating.

The Barcelona ace was left out but his close rival, Cristiano Ronaldo made the latest EA Sports' franchise series having held 94 rating in the past to get mention on FIFA XI of all time.

In the Goal rating which was awarded based on 4-4-2 formation, each player was considered in the best XI rating with Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon rated best goalkeeper with 97 overall rating in FIFA 05.

Former Real Madrid defender Fernando Hierro was awarded 94 rating in FIFA 02 while AC Milan legend Alessandro Nesta got a whopping 94 rating in FIFA 05 to be in the list.

Roberto Carlos, Brazilian legend,was rated highest-rated left-back in FIFA history with his FIFA 05 card.

Portuguese legend Luis Figo got his placement into the list after boasting an impressive 97 overall in FIFA 02, while his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded a 94 rating in FIFA 18 and FIFA 19.

At the central midfield, French legend Zinedine Zidane was included for his 96 score from FIFA 05 alongside Brazilian icon Ronaldinho was rated the best attacking midfielder in the list.

Meanwhile, Thierry Henry is one of the two strikers in the list alongside Brazilian legend Ronaldo. Madrid legend boasted the highest score in FIFA history with 98 rating in FIFA 04.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that Lionel Messi has achieved another significant landmark after he was adjudged to have scored more direct free-kick goals more than Juventus and PSG in the last five seasons.
