A woman suspected to have stolen two children from a northern state to Onitsha in Anambra state has been arrested by the Nigeria Police.
The Lagos state Police command said the woman was arrested on Saturday, November 2, at the Chemist Busstop close to Alaba International Market in Lagos.
Daily Trust reports that a resident who witnessed the woman's arrest said she was sighted by an old man at a motor park where she was trying to board a bus.
The witness said the old man called the attention of the Sarkin Hausawa who was close by in Alaba Rago, when he noticed the two children were speaking the Hausa language.
It was gathered that the Sarkin directed some security operatives and the woman was apprehended after she confessed that they (the children) were handed over to her by a man in Jos, Plateau state.
Informing the security that her husband was also involved in the deal, the woman was moved to the Ojo division of the Lagos Police command.
In his reaction, the spokesperson for the Lagos Police, DSP Bala Elkana, said the suspect and her husband are currently held by the Police.
“The two kids are also with us,” Elkana said.
