Reacting to the killing of his colleague, the general manager of Radio Nigeria, Akange Nyagba, he was playing draft with some friends some metres away from where Kumbul sat before the incident.

Nyagba said they did not even notice that the deceased had left the area when they heard gunshots within the neighbourhood.

“It is true, I was within the vicinity, five meters away from where the incident took place. We were playing draft with friends very close to where he sat within his neighbourhood but we didn’t know the time he left," Nyagba said.

He said it was after the gunshots that they rushed to discover Kumbul was shot.

Nyagba said the gunmen -six of them - allegedly dressed like operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad were on motorcycles.

He added that Kumbul's neighbour who sought the identity of the alleged SARS operatives was also killed for making such inquiry.
