Supreme Court verdict: Lawan, Gbajabiamila hail judgement

- Senate president Lawan has hailed the Supreme Court judgement which gave victory to Buhari

- The Senate president also urged opposition parties to accept the verdict and join hands with Buhari to move the country forward

- Meanwhile, Femi Gbajabiamila, on his part said Buhari's victory at the apex court is a victory for democracy

The leadership of Nigeria's National Assembly has hailed the Supreme Court judgement which upheld the decision of the appeal court on the validity of President Muhammadu Buhari's victory in the 2019 presidential election.

The president of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, in his reaction called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to accept the final verdict of the Supreme Court.

Channels TV reports that the Senate president said this in a statement by his special adviser on media, Ola Awoniyi. According to him, the PDP should now join hands with Buhari to build a better Nigeria.

On his part, Femi Gbajabiamila, the speaker of the House of the Representatives, said Buhari's triumph is victory for democracy.

Gbajabiamila in a statement by Lanre Lasisi, his special adviser on media and publicity, said the victory of Buhari was not in doubt.

According to him, the victory would now allow the Buhari administration to concentrate on the task of governing the country.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng also reported that Buhari called on PDP to go back to God.

The president said this in reaction to the Supreme Court judgement which affirmed the ruling of the appeal court that his presidency was legitimately won.
