- The PDP has been urged to go back to God
- Buhari gave this advice when he was reacting to his victory at the Supreme Court
- Meanwhile, the president restated his commitment to fighting corruption, boosting the economy and providing security to the country
President Muhammadu Buhari has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to go back to God. The president said this in reaction to the Supreme Court judgement which affirmed the ruling of the appeal court that the presidency was legitimately won by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that the Supreme Court on Wednesday, October 30, dismissed the appeal challenging Buhari’s victory at the February 23 general election.
The president said this while fielding questions from journalist in Saudi Arabia.
According to the president, the opposition has made use of all available means provided by the constitution to challenge his victory and after losing in their quest, the only option left for them to do is to go back to God.
Buhari also added that the opposition should not think that by making a lot of noise, they can intimidate the judiciary.
Going further, the president restated his commitment to fighting corruption, boosting the economy and providing security to the country.
Buhari also said it is up to Nigerians to assess his government to see how well his administration has performed.
However, he said he is satisfied with the performance of his government.
He added that during the election, he went to the 36 states of the federation including Abuja and the people that turned out to see and hear him are more than what anybody can buy or force. He said he was very pleased and "justifying the confidence Nigerians repose in us".
Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar, the PDP's presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections said that his legal tussle ended with the Supreme Court judgement.
