- Gernot Rohr has named his 23-man squad for the AFCON 2021 qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho
- Alex Iwobi, Joe Aribo and Mikel Agu are expected to control the midfield for Super Eagles
- Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and defender Bryan Idowu have both returned to Rohr's squad
Super Eagles gaffer Gernot Rohr has announced the 23-man squad that will face Benin and Lesotho in the coming 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Striker Ahmed Musa has returned to the Super Eagles after missing Nigeria's last friendly game against Brazil which ended 1-1 in Singapore.
But the former Kano Pillars' captain will have to face serious competition from Lille forward Victor Osimhen for a starting lineup in the Super Eagles.
Osimhen was superb against Brazil even though he did not score and he has also been superb this season for Lille scoring eights goals so far.
Also, goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and defender Bryan Idowu have both returned to the Super Eagles after being out for some time now.
Akpeyi was attacked by fans following the goal he conceded against Algeria in 2019 AFCON semifinal, while Bryan Idowu has not played for Nigeria since 2018 World Cup in Russia.
