Buhari, APC hail Supreme Court’s affirmation of Buhari’s victory

- President Buhari has reacted to the Supreme Court's verdict on the appeal against his victory by Atiku Abubakar

- The president said the judgement is a reaffirmation of the will freely expressed by Nigerians through the ballot box

- The APC also enjoined the PDP and Atiku to jettison "their destructive and disruptive agenda against Nigeria"

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, October 30, reacted to the judgement of the Supreme Court of Nigeria affirming his victory at the 2019 presidential election.

Nigerian Television Authority reports that President Buhari, while in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during the Future Investment Summit, said the court's dismissal of the appeal by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a reaffirmation of the will freely expressed by Nigerians through the ballot box.

The president also promised to sustain efforts at dismantling national development obstacles and taking the country to the country to greater heights.

Also reacting to the judgment, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) hailed the outcome of the application.

The spokesperson of the party, Lanre Issa-Onilu, while congratulating Nigerians, the president, the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, party leaders, members and APC supporters said the Supreme Court was apt in dismissing the appeal for lacking merit.

Onilu also enjoined the PDP and Atiku to jettison their destructive and disruptive agenda against Nigeria.

He said: “The PDP and Atiku should not confuse opposition politics for their unpatriotic agenda. Democratic politics cannot be practised in the state of anarchy, confusion which the PDP and Atiku wish to achieve. Such a diabolic plan will definitely fail."

He also said that going forward, President Buhari-led APC government will continue to focus on delivering its Next Level plans for the people of Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Atiku's running mate, Peter Obi, in a reaction to the Supreme Court ruling on the presidential election matter thanked all Nigerians for their support.

Obi speaking minutes after the judgement said the PDP and its candidates approached the court because of the belief that the election, its result was manipulated.
