Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that his unending rivalry with Lionel Messi has helped both of them remain relevant at the peak of their game.
The 34-year-old insisted that the competition between them is healthy and as both stars have been nominated into the current Ballon d'Or shortlist.
Ronaldo and Messi share five Ballon d'Or awards each between them and are in contention to scoop the 2019 edition.

Ronaldo told the French magazine: "Being in front of each other in Spain allowed us to be better, more efficient,
"At Real Madrid, I felt more his presence than Manchester, so a little more pressure. From a certain point of view, it was a healthy rivalry."
The Juventus striker achieved a landmark of goals in his career when he scored his 700th strike against Ukraine in a Euro 2020 qualifier and the Portuguese star expressed his delight.
"Seven hundred goals, it's still an impressive total that makes me all the more proud that few players have reached."
