Egyptian Football Association are planning to make Mohamed Salah the captain of the national team as a means to apologize to him for the FIFA Best awards debacle.
Mohamed Salah was reported to be furious with the failure of the Egyptian FA to vote in the awards in which alarms were raised that the Liverpool star could withdraw from national team.
According to the report on Daily Mail, Egypt are trying to win Mohamed Salah's heart by making him the new captain of the Pharaohs.

But the idea of him to step down for Mohamed Salah as the captain of Egypt has been rejected by Ahmed Fathi who is said to be livid with the proposal.
Ahmed Fathi who now plays for Cairo club Al Ahly has made 131 appearances for his country since 2002 and is one of the squad’s most senior players.
“Fathi was left surprised by this request and turned it down. I think he will not continue with the national team if the captaincy is taken off him,'' Shawky who is the agent of Fathi explained.
