Police recover 36 cows from rustlers in Zamfara

The police command in Kebbi has recovered 36 cows from cattle thieves in Zamfara as confirmed by Garba Danjuma, the commissioner of police in the state.

Vanguard reports that the Danjuma told newsmen on Sunday, October 27, that some of the suspected rustlers were apprehended along with the cows as other escaped.

He said that after due investigation, the police were able to arrest one Abubakr Umar and Attahiru Sani of Daki Takwa village in Gumi local government area of Zamfara as soon as they saw 36 stolen cows.

“After a thorough investigation, our men arrested one Abubakar Umar and Attahiru Sani of Daki Takwas village in Gumi Local Government Area of Zamfara, after they were found to be in possession of 36 stolen cows.

“Other suspected cow thieves were able to escape, but we are trailing them and shall soon apprehend them,” he said.

The official said that there are conscious effort to clean the state of cow thieves as it caution against those who are determined of make the state un-peaceful.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Another set of eight cows were reportedly struck by lightning in Ondo weeks after a similar occurrence led to the death of some others in a forest in the state.

The incident, according to Nigerian Tribune, occurred on Wednesday, October 23, with the dead animals immediately prepared to be sold by the herdsmen to residents at alleged ridiculous prices.

It was learnt that the sales of the dead animals were halted by environmental services officers in the four local government areas of the state, on Thursday, October 25.
