The Lagos State House of Assembly has summoned the immediate past governor of the metropolitan city-state to appear before it on Wednesday, October 30.

The Nation reports that the state lawmakers invited the former governor in an advert which they published in a national newspaper.

Explaining in the advert that they were within their powers as provided by Section 129 (1)(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the Lagos lawmakers said Ambode should appear before their Committee of the House at their official complex by 1.00 p.m.

The lawmakers also listed five sections they wanted Ambode to clarify for them.

They are:

1. Unauthorised discounting of Promissory Note;

2. Purchase of 820 buses by your administration without due authorisation;

3. Misappropriation of Special Expenditure Funds;

4. Improper implementation of the Appropriation Law; and

5. Non-adherence to the Financial Regulations of the State.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that the speaker of the Lagos assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, on Tuesday, October 15, threatened that the next line of action against former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was to order his arrest through court process.

His words came after Ambode, alongside his commissioners for finance, Akinyemi Ashade and commissioner for special duties, Oladejo Seye, failed to appear before the committee of the House which is probing his administration.

Although Ambode and his commissioners had written to the House that their absence was due to the fact that they travelled out of the country, Obasa said that a public notice of the House's invitation will be sent to him.
