Federal High Court judge kidnapped in Ondo state

Some unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted a Federal High Court judge, Justice Abdul Dogo, while he was returning to Akure from Abuja.

The Nation reported that the kidnappers have made contact with the relatives of the judge and are demanding the sum of N50m to release him.

The newspaper stated that the police are making frantic efforts to secure the release of the judge as the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed the head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, to Ondo state over the incident.

Meanwhile, Nigerian security agencies have so far recovered over 470 assorted weapons and 13,000 pieces of ammunition from kidnappers and bandits operating in the north-west geopolitical zone of the country

This was disclosed by the minister of defence, Major-General Bashir Magashi (rtd) on Tuesday, October 15 in Katsina at a special town hall meeting convened by the federal government.

The minister also said about 100 kidnappers and 24 bandits were arrested, while 500 captives were freed from their abductors, adding that 720,000 rustled animals were returned to their owners.
